An Honest Service
Timber Restoration for London Homes
Older timber windows and doors are often worth keeping. We inspect them properly and tell you honestly what's repairable. Restoration is usually better value and keeps your home's character.
Common Issues With Timber Windows and Doors
Timber window and door problems are often more fixable than people think. With the right care and expertise, even the most tired frames can be brought back to life.
Rot and Decay
Soft or spongy patches in the frame, especially at the corners and bottom rail, often signal timber decay. Small cracks usually mean rainwater has been getting in, and paint that keeps peeling in the same spot is another common sign of moisture in the timber. If you spot any of these signs, it's worth getting the timber checked before the damage spreads.
Draughts and Heat Loss
Cold air coming through when the window is fully closed is a common sign of draughts, often caused by gaps between the frame and the wall as the timber has moved over time. Old seals may have worn away, and a window that no longer sits flush in its frame will let air in around the edges.
Paint that Cracks and Flakes
Paint that is cracking, flaking, or bubbling is often a sign of trouble underneath, especially where bare timber has been left exposed. Discolouration or dark staining usually means damp has got behind the paint, and old paint build-up can cause a window or door to start sticking.
Stiff or Broken Hardware
Seized or dropped hinges, snapped sash cords, and worn handles or fasteners are all things we put right, so your windows and doors open, close, and hold as they should. Even a door that's dropped and started dragging along the sill can be brought back to smooth, easy use.
Timber Restoration Done Right
Good timber restoration is about knowing what to save and what to replace. We look at each window and door individually, work out what it needs, and take our time getting it right. We don't cut corners and we don't rush the finish.

A Seamless Restoration
Good restoration work holds up even when you look closely. We match the timber, keep the original profile, and paint to blend with what's already there, so the finished piece looks like it belongs, not like it's been patched up.
